How does player protection work?

Player protection is mainly for protecting new players to the game, or players who are reduced to a level under 30.

Protection rules:

* Players with level<10 - Player bases can’t be attacked.
* Players with level>=10 and Level<20 - Bases can only be attacked by players within 5 levels difference.
* Players with level>=20 and level<30 - Bases can only be attacked by a player within 10 levels difference.
* If a protected player attacks other over the protection level outside his bases he losses the protection for 48 hours.

Examples:
- A player level 9 attacks a level 12 outside his bases, he losses the protection for 48 hours.
- A player level 14 attacks a level 20 outside his bases, he losses the protection for 48 hours.

This means, until you reach level 30, your bases can only be attacked by players within a certain level of yourself. Plan ahead, so when you reach level 30, you are working towards Planetary Ring Technology, and are working on your other defenses, fleet and base defenses.

EXCEPTION: This rule is not valid if the attack occurs on a base already occupied by the attacker, or someone from the same guild as that player.

IMPORTANT: If you are under level 30, and attack someone OVER your protection level, you lose all protection for 48 hours. This means that player, or anyone else in the game who could normally NOT attack now have 48 hours in which they CAN. So be very careful.

REMEMBER: Player protection protects you from 'attack' not from 'pillage'. Anybody can pillage your trade routes at any time if you have not protected them with fleet.

Also important in this game is teamwork. This means, find a guild that you can join, or, create one and invite others to join. Playing alone in Astro Empires is very difficult, and only a top ranked player could do it, being safe mainly from the respect he or she has earned on their way to the top.

Beside this there's a new rule:

If a player attacks/occupy a player less that 65% of his level:
- He only gets x% of the pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income.

x% = Defender level / Attacker level x 100%

Examples:
Level 70 attacks level 60 = 100% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 70 attacks level 50 = 100% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 70 attacks level 40 = 57% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 70 attacks level 30 = 42% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income

Level 100 attacks level 90 = 100% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 100 attacks level 70 = 100% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 100 attacks level 50 = 50% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
Level 100 attacks level 30 = 30% pillage/trade routes plunder/occupation income
